Location Research

Above there are pictures of the underpass which is the sort of area we are looking for as part of our setting. The graffiti and dirty floor shows it could be a run down area and that it is a good place for gangs to hang out as they have already 'marked their territory' by using graffiti. If there was a shot of a character walking/running it would be good as its long and you can shoot the whole scene. It  could also be used as an establishing shot to give a better idea of the location we have chosen and how it fits the conventions of our genre.

The stairs shot from a high angle could be a good shot for the protagonist to run up or down. The audience will feel they have dominion over the character.

This image shows a bridge over a motorwar which could be used as a scene again which shows no comfort or refuge but a place to stay. It could also be a place to hang out with friends. The bags of rubbish in this area also adds to the effect of a run down area.

This toilet would be a great setting for our opening as it has 'boring' and 'basic' features and you can tell its a public toilet. However, also the large mirror would mean its easy to film with. A problem with using this location for out film is a large number of the public use these toilets and we will have to consider when filming

This is also another public toilet as it isn't overly pretty or clean. It is very minimilistic which is what we are looking for. The white paint can be contrasting to the scene we are hoping for too. Again, as it is a public toilet, we will have to consider other people who wish to use it although it is in a more secluded location than the above toilets which is more suitable.

Above  shows the outside of a toilet. We could shoot here as it looks quite run down and neglected, which is the type of area we are hoping to have in our film. The barbed wire can connote danger and the boarded up doors and windows can connote neglect and disownment.

This is the other end of the alleyway which is on a bend with high fences so again is hidden from sight. The light source shines directly on the corner only lighting up this area. The red high bricked walls connotes danger which helps support aspects the scene we would like to suit here.

This pathway would be a good setting for our running scene as it is long with a good source of light. The graffiti makes it a stereotypically a bad area suggesting that other people have already 'marked their territory' here. This makes it look threatening and dangerous. By using graffiti that so clearly stands out with its vibrant colours in such large amounts, makes the aspect of neglect and the idea of being in a run down area more obvious.

This alleyway would be suitable for our film as our character could be running down it or hiding in it. It is lit by two lamp posts. This alleyway will suit one of the scenes we plan to use in our film as there are high walls with barbed wire to make it look more scary. Also, the trees running along the sides add cover, making it more hidden.
